We kick off the fall edition of Backtalk with a discussion on Protagonist vs. Antagonist. Bring your favorite heros and villains to share as we delve into what makes them tick, and explore the best ways to make these key story elements click in a way that will hook your readers and keep them turning pages.
Where: Chili’s, Franklin and Milwaukee
When: Saturday, September 20, 11:30 – 1:30.
Note: Backtalk will take a break for the Holiday’s in November, but will return in January on it’s regular bi-monthly schedule.
In almost any story it’s the Good Guys vs. the Bad Guys. Gender doesn’t matter, or even species, depending on what you’re writing about. What does matter is how they interact to keep the reader interested. And what better time than the Ides of March to talk about bad guys? That’s the topic of our next Backtalk, Saturday, March 15, 11:30 – 1:30, at Fuddruckers on Entertainment Way (near the Edwards Cinemas – 1667 S. Entertainment Avenue Boise, 83709). Bring your ideas and an open mind as we tackle this thorny topic.
Several of you who attended the November Backtalk suggested that the next session deal with book titles and covers. That’s what we’ll be discussing on January 18, from 11:30 – 1:30, at what’s becoming our regular bi-monthly haunt: Fuddrucker’s at 1667 Entertainment Way, near the Edwards Cinemas on Overland and Cole. Please join us for a scintillating discussion.
At our September Backtalk a number of members asked about holding a session for new writers; a kind of “how to get started” session. So we decided to make our November edition just that. Here’s a chance to ask all those questions you always wanted the answers to when it comes to getting into the writing game. On Saturday, November 16, from 11:30 to 1:30 at Fuddrucker’s on Entertainment way, near the Edwards Cinemas on Overland and Cole, we’ll provide as many answers as we can. Whether you have questions, or answers, please come and join in the discussion. We hope to see you there.
